Simon Peecock is a local artist specialising in lino printing. You may have seen his work if you’ve visited Wivenhoe Market recently, where he has been regularly selling his prints and cards. Earlier in the year he ran a very successful and enjoyable day workshop on linocut which has since prompted requests for a follow-on exploring two-colour printing.
This will be a two half-day (10am-1pm) workshop allowing you to plan a two-colour image using the ‘reduction’ method where a single lino plate is used to create the first colour image. On day one a full set of proof prints are taken from the plate. On day two the plate is further cut to create the second colour image and overprinted on top of the first run of proofs.
You are encouraged to come to the session with some sketch ideas to work from. It’s also a good idea to bring an apron (or wear clothes you don’t mind getting inky) and a packed lunch (or you can go to any of our local pubs and cafes). Tea, coffee, biscuits and soft drinks will be available throughout the day.
Simon’s session will end at 1pm but the workshop space will be open during the remainder of the afternoons so please let us know (either in advance or on the day) if after lunch you would like to carry on with your lino or doing some other print work. We always have stocks of paper, ink etc available at cost and there will be a member of Printworks on hand if you need help.
