Have fun exploring various dynamic drawing techniques in a supportive and friendly Saturday afternoon class. Work with an experienced drawing tutor to develop your draughtsmanship, creativity and range – break out of your comfort zones, old habits and explore new ways to make marks, use tone to create depth and energy in your drawings. Or use the class to bring back the habit of regularly drawing & sketching.
The venue will be Wivenhoe Printworks in the Business Centre and will involve drawing lively and engaging subjects. We will explore a range of dynamic exercises such as drawing at a distance, scaling-up, gestural and mass drawing, tonal exercises, negative space, destruction and looking at line. You’ll work on a range of exercises and practices by great drawing teachers and artists such as Kimon Nicholaides, Betty Edwards, Durer and Matisse as well as tried and tested art-school classics. All the exercises will be fun, challenging and will extend and develop your skills and help to reinvigorate your drawing practice. Most of all, we’ll have creative fun.
This course/class is generally aimed at the more experienced artist who is keen to undertake exciting and challenging drawing exercises and subjects. You’ll definitely not be studying vases of flowers, bowl of fruit or drawing from photos, but any level of experience is welcome if you are happy to be challenged and keen to extend yourself!
Cost for the day is £35/£30 inclusive of all materials.
