The first of two days to get to know collagraphy.
You will initially make an experimental plate to explore this method and learn two different ways to print a collagraph. From the this experience you will be able to use the available materials to make a piece of your own direction and choosing.
Because you will be introduced to the press, and you will print your work using both intaglio and relief methods this course is ideally suited to the beginner printmaker. You will get a very thorough grounding in how to use the large press and a in general printmaking skills, such as preparing your plate, inking-up, soaking paper, and numbering your prints.
Collagraphy is a very hands-on and tactile method of printing, without an emphasis on exacting drawing skills, so it is suitable for anyone wishing to try out printmaking. You will be challenged, learn a lot and also have fun!
